For its first participation at ABU DHABI ART, SAILLY gallery is thrilled to present a group show of Garance Matton and Thomas Devaux.
Thomas Devaux is a French visual artist whose practice lies at the intersection of photography, sculpture, and installation. With a background in image manipulation, he approaches the photographic image not as a fixed representation but as raw material — sculpting light, transforming texture, and reconfiguring form. His work deconstructs identity and sacred iconography, drawing from baroque naturalism and the aesthetics of cinema and fashion to explore themes of transcendence and desire.

Devaux’s recent series, The Shoppers, marks a conceptual turning point in his practice. Capturing anonymous supermarket customers at checkout, he transforms these ordinary figures into ghostly icons of late capitalism. Blending realism and abstraction, Devaux blurs the boundary between the sacred and the banal, exposing the psychological weight of hyper-consumerism and questioning the modern subject’s identity in a system governed by desire and saturation.

Thomas Devaux has exhibited internationally, and his works are held in both private and public collections across Europe and Asia.
